THIS TUTORIAL IS FOR THE BASIC'S
OF HOW I MADE BOTH OF THEM
FROM THE RENUZIT DRESS.
Hope you are ready - cause these will
be long tutorials.
They are easy - but I want those of you
that are new to making mini's to
understand.
And TUTORIALS can be hard to make!!!
Back in November of 2010, I told you
about a Renuzit that I found that had
a smelly old dirty dress attached to it.
These are the directions to making them.
However I will not make the same gowns
twice - so I have made them differently.
Please try to understand what I say and do, or
you can contact me if you wish.
However a lot of the pics are self-explanatory.
REMEMBER ALL ARE EASY!!!!
MAKE FOR YOUR OWN PERSONAL USE,
NOT TO BE KITTED OR SOLD!!
THIS IS FOR DISPLAY!!!
THESE ARE THE 2 GOWNS THAT YOU WILL
BE MAKING!!
BE MAKING!!
GOWN #1
This gown will be in the (2nd) next posting.
GOWN #2
This gown will be in the (3rd) last posting.
THE BASIC'S
TO MAKE A PATTERN
1. Paper (any type)
2. A 10 inch pot
3. Scotch tape
4. Paper scissors
SEWING SUPPLIES
1. A manikin
2. Cluny lace in 2 or 3 different sizes
3. White cotton fabric
4. Sewing machine, needle, thread
5. Ribbon
6. Sewing Scissors
7. A 5 inch doily of your choice
ALSO NEED:
2 GOLD COLORED MANIKENS
FROM DAWN DOLLS
TO MAKE THE PATTERN
1. Tape together 4 pieces of paper.
2. Place a 10 inch pot on top and trace around it.
3. Cut out the pattern.
4. Here is the pattern.
5. Fold the pattern in half.
6. Fold the top down.
7. Turn it after you fold it down.
This is what it should look like now.
8. Measure with a ruler 1.5 inch from the top.
9. Draw the half moon shape.
10. Cut it out.
11. Open up the paper.
12. Place the paper pattern on top of white cotton.
Trace around the inner and outer circles.
13. Cut out the white cotton fabric.
I used 2 of the 3 cotton cluny laces that you see here.
I did not use the middle cotton cluny lace.
Use any color you want, or vary white and off-white
colors like I have.
Do use a narrow width and a medium to large
width.
The doily I used is 5 inches wide.
Also you can hem the white cotton
fabric or not.
I chose not to hem it, since it will not be seen.
Begin pining the lace.
Pin it so that some of the holes at the
bottom are a little longer than the
edge of the white cotton fabric.
Take the narrow lace and pin it all around
the white cotton fabric.
Be sure to overlap and fold the top edge to the
bottom edge and just pin it down.
(See below - bottom edge with folded top
edge).
Now, start your 2nd row of cluny lace
where you see the pins at.
You want to hide the top part of that
first row.
Continue all around the cotton circle
till you come back to where you
started.
Cut off cluny lace and turn under
the folded edge.
Make sure all ends meet and pin.
Start the 3rd (top) row of cluny lace
the same as the other 2 rows.
Cut and fold under the top just as
you did the 2 prior rows.
Go to the sewing machine or hand sew
together all the rows.
Take out the pins as you go.
HAND STITCH THE CLUNY LACE ENDS CLOSED
SO THEY DO NOT POP UP.
TRY TO MAKE THE STITCHES AS INVISIBLE
AS GOOD AS YOU CAN.
When finished sewing all together, place the small
doily on top to see how you like it.
It looks pretty!
If you like the way that it looks, then
line up the holes of the doily inner flower with
the hole of your white cotton fabric.
NOTE: THIS HOLE MIGHT NEED ENLARGING FOR
THE MANIKEN, BUT DO NOT ENLARGE YET!
We are merely just seeing how it looks.
Remove the doily!!!
Now, fold the skirt in half.
Make sure that the folded edges are not in this fold
area.
GEE, AM SO SORRY - I THOUGHT THAT
I HAD THIS NEXT PIC BUT I DO NOT.
Anyway, make sure that you REMOVE THE DOILY!!
And cut the entire skirt in half!!
That's right!!
Cut it in half so that you have 2 pieces!!!
TAKE EACH PIECE AND SEW UP INTO A
SKIRT AS YOU SEE HERE.
SKIRT AS YOU SEE HERE.
THE TOP WILL NOT BE EVEN.
This is what the back will look like.
Cut the top of the white cotton off a little to make the
hole as even as possible.
It is okay if it is a little big.
NOW GO TO PART 2 TO MAKE GOWN #1.
Thank you for stopping in!
