TUTORIAL - MAKE 2 GOWNS - PART 3 - GOWN #2

Part 3 - Gown #2

VIEWS

Cut a strip of white cotton fabric, fold under one
side and sew into a tube.
It can be as long as you want.

You want it a little big.
You do not have to hem the bottom.

Take a manikin and butter it up
with a lot of glue!

Place the white tube on the
manikin, make sure that the
front is even and straight.

Sorry this pic is a little blurry,
did not realize it.

Sorry this pic is a little blurry too,
did not realize it.

Turn the manikin to the back and
stuff all of that fabric into the
back of the manikin.

Maneuver the fabric on the back,so that it
looks like this on the front.
You will have to play with it.

I was not too concerned with the
way the back looks, cause
it will be hidden.

Sorry this pic is a little blurry.

You do not have to wait until the glue dries.

Hand gather the skirt and place
the skirt on the manikin.
Gather up the threads and tie 3 times into a
knot.
Cut the threads off.

This is what the back looks like.

Cut a piece of the medium to wide cluny lace that
you have and cut to this length.

Fold it in half and sew along the seam.

Turn the seam to the inside.

Gather the top of the lace.
Leave long threads hanging, cut and knot the ends.

Place this piece on the manikin.
Make sure both seams line up with each other
as best as you can.

Make sure that you hide the bottom of the skirt's
cluny lace top.

Gather up this piece and tie 3 times
into a knot.
Cut the threads off close to the lace.
Adjust the gathers as evenly as you can.
Push the lace down to the manikin's
waist.

Cut a piece of cluny lace enough to
cover the shoulders and drape
it around the manikin,
so it looks like the picture.
Secure with a straight pin.

Take this piece back off.

Sew it closed like you see here in the picture.
When you get to the end, lay the thread
and needle down.
Place this piece back on the manikin.

Pinch one side to make a sleeve.
Pinch it a little.

Now pinch both sides to make both sleeves.
These are just folds.

To make the sleeve on this piece of lace.
Just give a few stitches and anchor it
so it closes.
See how close I am stitching to the lace
that is on the skirt.

You can position this sleeve anyway that
you want to.
Sew to the front as you see here and
weave the needle and thread thru
the front of the lace to the other sleeve.

I came out here cause the needle is only
so long.
Weave the needle back thru - to the
back of the sleeve.

Finish the sleeve at the bottom.
Knot the threads and hide on the inside
then cut the thread off.

Straighten up the back.
It should similar to this.

Thanks for stopping in!
