My Country Chicken Coop

Hello Everyone!

Sorry, I have been sick. 

I caught that crud that was going around.

And it put me down.

A big thank you for all of those that commented

at my last posting.

And I will get to your blog soon!

I made 2 chicken coops, one in 12th scale

and the other in half scale.

I gave the half scale to my sister because

she wanted that.

I am so pleased that she loves it and I

will show you hers at the next posting.

Wanted to show you a 12th scale 

Chicken Coop that I made for myself.

This is the first real project that I have

ever made in this type of scale.

I do have to buy some more chickens along with some

other things though!

It is a dirty chicken coop!

Hehehehe!!!

Some of the grey and white paint has weathered

away leaving some bare wood spots.

Window moldings are long gone rotted away.

But this is home to some happy chickens!

Hehehehe!

A little garden of watermelons and cabbages await

the owner to take them indoors. 

I made the cabbages, they were not easy.

Did not make the watermelons - bought them 

at a cheap price. 

This little chicken is playing with a basket.

Yes, chickens like to play!

Hehehe!

What else will he tear up, I wonder?

I made the bucket but these chickens eat everything!

Will put more food inside for them, once it is all 

gone.

Hehehe!

See, I am so surprised that the bucket was not

turned over and the contents were on the ground.

Hehehe!

Here is one side and I have some 

tools here. 

This is the only place the owner has

to store these.

I hope they do not rust!

The door hardly ever closes anymore.

The coop was becoming loose so the owner had

to add some wet cement so that the coop would

not tear away from the base.

In the back I placed a white bicycle.

This is the perfect place to put this bike at!

The owner rides it once in a while. 

The roof used to be just a plain metal color but the 

weather has played its tole on it. 

It now has soot and some rust on it.

Shingles have fell off of the other roof. 

It is now down to just the plywood so the owner

not wanting it to look tooo bad, dabbed on what

paint she had lying around and she did this 

years ago!!!

The other side of the coop is the chicken house

really.

I took one door and split it in half and cut

a little slit in each door to be used as a means of

pushing the doors open, not caring if the 

slits matched up or not.

I wanted to be able to see fully in here.

I put a track over the door and under the

door so the doors would slide freely.

Gee, perhaps I should think about a lock

here in case someone tries to steal some 

eggs from my hens?

Hehehe!

I hope you can see in here.

I do love the look.

There is the ladder that goes down

to the play level.

The paint is bad and peeling here

also.

There is a chicken playing in a tire. 

However the owner has to rescue him cause

he always gets his feet stuck!!

He is still waiting!

I hope the owner comes soon.

Here is a bad window area with just chicken wire

in it since the window no longer exists.

This is above the nesting box.

Just inside the front door, I made 2 inside food

holders from straws.

See how messy those chickens are!

Yuck - who cleans that mess up!

Am hoping you can see the nail.

The nail goes up and down and I use it to keep

the door closed at night so the chickens do not

get out.

And then in the morning I turn the nail down so

the door opens. 

This is how our chicken coop was!

Because our door was hanging off of the hinges!

Hehehe!

We never knew that chickens liked to play so

we never had any things in there for them to

play with.

Also our chicken coop was not this fancy.

The owner was so tired after dragging this

pound of Hen Feed that she just left it

there.

I made the coop so that the roof comes

off in case I want to put something else

in there or hang plants from the rafters.

Here is the nesting box.

Ooo the owners better get out here fast and 

get those eggs!

I still have a few things yet to make or to buy.

The chickens need a water bucket among

other things.
