Apartment #10 - The Taylor's Bathroom, Kitchen and Rug

Hello Yawl.
Hope everyone is well. I cannot believe
the lovely weather we are having today.
It is gorgeous out there!!!
Thank you for your sweet comments. All are
appreciated.
I thought I would show you what I have done so far.
This kitchen area is tiny and that works well for this
apartment. There is no room for extra's here. The lady
of this apartment only buys what she needs. No stove.
No doubt that she microwaves all of her food on her
lovely red microwave. The landlady decided to get
her a new one especially since the other went bad.
I still need to hang up an apron on the blue tile.
So far so good!
I thought that I would show you the sink area with
a few more items. Still nothing is in the refrigerator.
And I still have not found what I want to go on the
little shelf on the left or below that shelf.
The top area show the dishes in the dish drainer
and part of the pink sponge in the sink. There are
3 of those Bingo Chips used for plates that I told
you about (maybe a year or 2 ago). Wow time sure
does fly by!
Ooooo - I bet you thought that the bathroom was
going beside the kitchen. Well the truth is, that
I could not get the bathroom to fit there!
The bathroom is going to be little but everything
will fit in. I also made a paper pattern and cut
some baby pink flannel to fit over the white floor.
I felt the white floor did not look good among
all of the light blue and white tile. It really
needed a carpeted.
I wanted a pretty rug to go on top, but at the
last minute I decided the rug that should go
there is one that I made over 16 years ago.
Let me tell you how I made this rug.
This is not
my idea, it came from a miniature book that I
checked out of the library way back there in Oklahoma.
So I cannot take any credit for this tutorial. I only
hope that I have not left out a step. Also a shame that
I can not even remember the name of the book!
I would love to make a few more
of these rugs in bigger sizes.
These rugs have a sweetness to them.
I made a total of 3 rugs back then with different
designs on them. One of the rugs do not even
have a backing.
Anyway I used colored pens of pink, blue,
and green to make this rug.
Have a plan of what
design you want before you start and it would help
to color out something on paper first. I think that
this is the design in the book, but I could be wrong.
The rug does not look bad for being made over 16
years ago, does it?
Anyway this rug is only squiggly lines and dots.
YES, JUST DOTS on a piece of white
felt, flannel or anything that you want to use.
The fabric I used is very soft.
It does not feel like scratchy felt.
You know what - I remember that I used a piece of
white FIRM quilt batting.
Anyway, the little rug is so soft to the touch.
Still when I look at it today, it looks like little flowers!
Perhaps some of the little rug is faded around
the edges, however a lot of
the colors are still vibrant and bright. There is not
any yellowing on the top of this rug either.
This is the whole rug.
After the design was made. I ironed on a cotton
backing. Then I took a piece of white cotton that would
ravel really good to use as fringe. I cut a long piece
(longer than both sides of the rug) and fringed it.
The reason you want to cut
a piece longer than both sides is because you do
not want to accidentally cut the fringe too short.
Then I just glued one piece to the back of the rug,
cut the fringe to size and then glue to the other side.
Cut off the excess fringe and there you have it.
Yellowing is a sign of age with the glue.
I hope you have enjoyed this update.

Apartment #10 - The Taylor's Kitchen

Hello Ya'll

Thank you for your sweet comments on the
last posting. I do hope that you look for
patches at the store!

It has been a long 2 weeks and I am still trucking on
with this apartment. This is what I have done so far.

I have made the sink area from an existing sink that
I was not using. Because I always need something
that is smaller than what you can usually buy.

As you can see the kitchen is going to be small. I
am not going for a shabby chic - just an ordinary
kitchen area. A kitchen that looks like it has a bad
coat of paint on it!!
I had to make a side piece and attach it to the sink.
Since I am not good with wood, I decided to make
it from foam core board. I cut it with scissors
which is what made the jagged edge. Then glued
it to the side of the sink.
I painted the entire sink area white and then painted
pink below the sink area leaving white streaks.
This was intentional.

The top almost gave the effect of a drain board or
a little space to chop food up. The entire top is painted
white including the faucet and taps. I did not like the
brass look for this apartment.

As you can see I took off one of the doors. This open
area is to show what is in the kitchen. I wanted
everything to have an open feeling. Plus I wanted
to see everything that was on the shelves. I have
already made 6 kitchen towels and folded
them onto the shelf. I made another one
and that will be placed somewhere else.
The door is suppose to
represent a refrigerator. It will not hold tall items.
The large space to the left of the kitchen towels is
where I was going to put a tall trash can. But
now I have changed my mind. So now I do not
know what I will put in this tall space. It may take
awhile to find something to go there.

I hope that you like what I have done so far.
Thank you for visiting me!

Apartment #10 - The Taylor's Kitchen tile

Hello Ya'll
How is everyone?
Thank you for the sweet comments.

I am still here!! It is coming along
really slow. This apartment is proving difficult
considering what I want to put in here.
However, I think I have it now!

The kitchen is going here. So it is here where I
am starting.

Hope everyone has been well!

TUTORIAL - A Simple Patch turned into a Miniature sweater - takes 2 MINUTES TO MAKE!!

Hello everybody!
Hope you all including your families have
been well.

I know that I am a BAD, BAD BLOGGER, but what
can I say,
SOMETIMES LIFE JUST GETS
IN THE WAY WITH BLOGGING.

Sometimes I am doing good just to post. I am
always looking for new ideas to make your
mini world a little quicker!

Can you believe that this is an ordinary patch!
Yes, the kind of patch that you iron on your
shirt or pants to cover up a hole.

This sweater when sewed up is the correct
size for a miniature sweater.
Look at the sweater patch - it is knitted.
I could have changed the
buttons but they are not that big.
It only looks
that way in this picture.
If your patch
has buttons and you do not like it - then
change the buttons before you do any sewing
or gluing!
This is so easy to do - only takes
2 MINUTES TO SEW BY HAND!

This is the finished folded up sweater!

This is what the front side of the patch
looks like.
Looks nice enough for a sweater - wish
I could keep it like this, but it
is too big to put in a drawer.

This is the back side. This patch has glue on it
so it is hard to see.

Here is the length of the patch.

Here is the width of the patch.

I did have another photo to show the front side
of this patch to show you where to
fold to begin sewing. However that photo
was blurry. Sorry.

Start at the backside and fold the
sides in towards the middle
of the sweater just as you
see pictured below.
Just refer to the
Be sure to leave a little bit
for the shoulder.
Be sure to finger-crease the
side edges so they help to stay put - like
this photo.

You can use white thread or any
color of thread you want because
the thread will not be seen.
I am
using cream colored quilting thread.
Start at the bottom or the top - it
does not matter.

I did have another photo to show you but it was
blurry also. So -  just fold up the sweater patch
to the back
and stitch it closed with big stitches or small
stitches.
Just make sure that your thread is
hidden and not seen.
OR - JUST GLUE THE ENTIRE THING
SHUT if that is your style!

Finished!!
Thank you for visiting me!

Apartment #10 - The Taylor's wallpaper

Hello Everyone. I sure do hope
that you had a lovely Christmas and a
great New Year!

I know I am late but a lot has been happening around
my home. New year - new beginnings and
new trips to the doctors!

Thank you all so much for the lovely comments! I
do visit your blogs, but most of the time I do
not have time to leave a comment before
someone needs me for something.

Gee, it takes me so long to decide on wallpaper
and furnishings to go into these apartments. Not to
mention trying to decide how to design the
layout of these apartments.

This apartment is going to house a small family. I
am not sure how I am going to do it yet, but I hope
to figure it out.
I like the white floors but I am not sure at this point
if I want a wood-look, or if I want to keep the floor
just as it is. What do you think?
The wallpaper has a host of colors.

I have room for a small closet here, I think. I hope
that I can make this work. My fingers are crossed!

Hopefully this picture shows the wallpaper colors
better.

Here is the side of the room. Dolls will enter
into this side of the room from behind the pink
and cream wall

Behind this papered wall is where the door is supposed
to go. It is such a little space behind - that we are
going to have to pretend that a door is behind here
since there is no room.
This same wallpaper is also on the backside
of this wall and can be seen when apartment #9
has their door open

This wall will hold the large bay window. The
apartment is already looking strange, isn't it?

Thank you for visiting me and as always your
comments mean a lot to me.
Be safe and be happy!
