Apartment Samantha - MARDI GRAS HAS BEGUN!

Samantha has intentions of playing till
week long till she drops!

She is now all dressed up and ready to

go out of the door.
But before she left I convinced

her to let me take some pics of her costume.

Her nice mask was made by Diane Paone of New

Jersey.
My daughter Pep bought that for Sam.
She thought that she needed it.
It sure does help make

her more prettier.
The mask is just beautiful!

 Here are her ju-ju beads. Red and blue are some more

of the traditional colors.
Sam needed the small strand of

pink beads.
They match her dress. Sometimes Sam likes

to chew on her mardi gras beads.

 Here is a side view of Samantha & her sporty look.

 Samantha is sporting a wig that is made

from 3 different toys.
2 of the toys were small mermaid dolls and the
other was one of those

plastic colored horses that has hair.
I think he was called, 'My Little Pony'. but unsure.
In fact, the horse had the pink hair
while the little

dolls had the purple and the red hair.

Look at the piece of pink hair that is fly-away!

It wont lie down. Lols. 
But its okay cause its cute.

I hope you like the front of her top hat!
I made it.

Her dress is a type of Barbie dress.
I added straps so it would stay on he
body. I gathered up the waist and gathered
the pink ribbon.
Then hand stitched the ribbon closed.
The pink below the dress is part of 
the dress.

 This pic shows the back of her hair and her

top hat!
The red scrolly that goes around the hat is

thin red wire.
It is miniature tinsel. So easy to use.
On the next pic, if you zoom in
you can see it better.
I show it on the
windows of the Bernice's Christmas
apartment.
I made the top hat many months ago.
I made the brim of the hat too small. I would have
liked for it to have been wider.

 Here is a close up of the back.
The fabric on the hat

is actually made from 4 leaves that belonged
to a medium sized fairy doll.
The fairy was in bad shape

and so were her wings.
The wings actually look

better used as the fabric for the top hat.
The glitter on the

hat was already on the leaves - they are not added by

me.
I just tried to incorporate as much of the glitter

as possible into the hat.

 Maybe I should cut off that strand of fly away hair!

 The little purple glittered leaves and the stone was

attached on a small Disney doll dress. It easily
came of and so I glued it to the hat.
I think it looks better on the hat.

 I thought that you would like to see her

tiny pink shoes. They are made of rubber and

easy to put on her feet.
They fit like they were made for her feet!!
These were found at the

thrift store for a dime. 

 Such cute shoes.
I forgot to take off Sam's hose.

 I do not think that I am going to glue anything on

these shoes.
If I do it will take away the ability of

them being put on and taking off of her feet.

APARTMENT WITCH PERMELIA - TEAPOT - MRS. POTTS AND CHIP

First, I would like to give a

I saw this cute little piece at the thrift

store.
Disney items are so cute.

By any chance are you a toy basher?

Well, I am.

I bash clothes and everything else that

I get my hands on, so toys should not

be any exception to the rule.

I love the movies 'Beauty and the Beast'.

You do too - right.

I love adding a little bit of whimsy into my apartments.

Makes it so much more fun.

Found at the thrift store - a Disney piece.

The entire piece is cute - but I only wanted

Mrs. Potts and Chip.

They were the right size to go into the kitchen.

The purple color goes well

in Permelia's apartment.

The little tea cart was too bulky to go into the

apartment.
However, it was not the cart that I wanted.
I put the rest of the tea cart in a box to store.
You never know when a piece could be needed.

 The top and bottom came apart easily enough. 
This was kind of easy to take apart!
I do not know how old the toy is, but I
do wonder if that had something to do with it.

All I did was take

some pliers and pull up the little tea set. 
Easy enough!

Mrs.. Potts and Chip will look really cute on
Permelia's kitchen island.

Apartment Samantha - Sam's Sweet Attack!

We all know how those days can be....

Sam is having a sweet attack!

We all have those kind of days

where all we want to eat is sugar.

Take a look at Sams sweet attack.

If she doesnt watch out she is going to gain

weight. LOL's.

But first peek in thru the window to see.

  As you can see Sam starting

off eating this little cookie cake. These little cookie cakes are

made from the little pieces of brown and white felt that I

glued together. They are

not glued on the plate. I want to be able to remove it. She was

dipping one of them into her milk. I think that I

have to add more glue in the milk. It has sunk.

When Sam finishes eating them

then she is going to eat those chocolate chip CORK cookies on

the little green glass plate. Then she is going to eat the little

chocolate cookies that are in the tall glass plate. I cut these

from felt with the paper punch. Lightly glue them together

but DO NOT glue them on the plate. You want to be able

to put different things on the plate once they eat their

sweets. Then she is going to eat the ice cream. I have

had this item for a few years and I do not know if they still

sell it. So far I havent found it here at the craft stores.

Afterwards Sam is going to eat the Nestles

crunch bar and then the cake. Lastly she will eat all

of that popcorn in the blue-green bowl. I think that

the popcorn is a Barbie item and so is the little cake.

They were small enough to use.

Where does Sam put all of this at and how can she

eat all of this?

Amazing!

TUTORIAL - Make Cookies from Cork with Sticky Backings

Thank you all for the nice comments on

my last posting. They are greatly appreciated.

DO YA CRAVE A CHEAP COOKIE!
 

Easy cookies that are not bad on the

budget and not bad for your waistline.
 

Everyone knows that the grocery store sells

many types of cookies.
There are expensive

cookies and cheap cookies.

These are the cheap kind that take only

seconds to bake.

Sam loves these real chocolate chip cookies.

These chocolate chip cookies

are made from tiny round pieces of thin
cork that have a sticky backing.

Make small dots on them in the front and back
with a magic marker.

 

 Weapon of choice is an ordinary paper punch.
You can get 2 or 3 chocolate chip cookies
from this sticky cork.
Punch some on the edge so it looks a bite was
take out of it.
Also crumble some of the cork for crumbs!!

Lets just hope that these cheap cookies do not

taste like cardboard!

LOL'S

 

 Punch them out and place them on a plate.
Because the cork is sticky, it
will stick to each other and the plate.
No need for any glue!
I have placed

them on one of those coca cola bottle plastic inserts.

I have to find a plate to put them on.

TUTORIAL - Sam's new REPURPOSED Mardi Gras costume

Sometimes you just cannot help it.

Especially if something blue just drops in your

lap - like this sparkly gown.

It is so pretty!!
Who was the the little

doll that wore this glittery thing?
She sure was tall and skinny.

In order for Samantha to wear

this I will certainly have to fix a few things.

For one - I did not like the bottom of
the gown. It looked like a mermaid
or something.
 

Okay - the gown does not have any

straps but I intend on giving her some.

Also the gown is to long.
Unfortunately, whoever tried to squeeze
 into the gown tore the front seam right up
the split. 

That is fixable.

The little gown just fits the 5 inch Dawn dolls.

That's a plus.
Looks like a mermaid dress!

 

 Here is the back.
Still looks like a mermaid outfit.

But I don't know.

 

 Meet Grace.
Only in this pic is she

modeling the gown. It fits her hips

nice enough.
When I cut off all of

that bulk at the bottom it will give me

excess fabric to play with.
The good thing about this

fabric is that it doesn't have to be hemmed.

The boobie area isn't bad either.

 

 See - no straps, but I will remedy that

situation.

I will not remove the Velcro.
This allows the gown to be worn.

 

Fixing the seam -
I began by inserting a pin

just below her knee. I placed the pin
here because that is how far I can
go down with this gown to fix
without a pucker.
I then had to finagle it so it would
not pucker because I
did not want a slit in the front of
this gown.
My sewing machine would never like
this fabric - and this fabric is never

easy to sew with a needle and thread.

The best thing to do is to glue
it  together - so that's what I did!

I just use good ole tacky glue!

You must access the situation
of the gown. Is the gown ripped and
torn really bad or is it mild.

This gown was just ripped up the seam.
So all I had to do was place
one fold back on top of the
other side and make sure
that when I  glued it - that there
was no pucker.

If the seam needs to butt up to each other,
then glue the raw edges together.
If the seam is ripped up, torn a little or
holy, then you can glue as closely to the
holes or seams as possible and
then try to incorporate trims, bows and ribbons into
the design of the gown.

 

 After I glued the split back together
then I cut

off the bottom of the dress to where. 

 I wanted it to be.
This gave me the excess fabric to use.

Make straps - 

I cut a long skinny strip from the

excess fabric and cut in half.
Cut enough so that you can do both straps, and
do cut a little extra just in case you
mess up.
 First - Put the gown back on the doll,
and see where the straps must go.
Eyeball it or pin the straps to the front
where they will look the
best at. Make sure they are evenly
placed.
You will glue the front straps on first.
Glue on one strap, let dry.
Repeat for the other strap, let dry.
After the front straps are dry, then
proceed to the back.
Start with one strap at a time.
Carry one strap over the shoulder,
see where it needs to go. Trim off any
excess fabric, then glue it down.
Then repeat with the other strap.
The straps on the gown can be seen in
the last photo.

Meet Storm

She is modeling the finished

gown before it is given to Samantha.

 

Samantha picked up the gown

and took it home yesterday.

 Here is the gown hanging on
Sam's screen divider.

See the red furry stole.
Sam will wear that around her arms.
All she needs is

matching red shoes with a red mask and

she is all set to go!

Doesn't the gown look smashing!

Samantha can hardly wait for Mardi Gras!
